Its been an unbelievable couple of weeks for 99tests. From delighting an emerging start-up, building a passionate group of testers to meeting founders at Nasscom and TiE events its been a thrilling journey.
99tests launched on 14th Nov with our first customer Practo, a medical practice management start-up. Early adopters of crowdsourced software testing have shown lots of interest in 99tests. The invite for the contest was sent out to the community of testers after launch. The response from the community picked up in just couple of hours. There were more than 20 bugs logged in the first day of the contest. Testing contest was extremely competitive with the top three testers fighting it out for the top spot and reputation. Over the next few days of the contest there were lots of bugs being filed by testers and validation by our customer.
From the contest, lots of feedback about not only the functionality of the web application, also the feed back by the testers, on the areas of improvement of the product were received . Practo was absolutely delighted with the results of community based software testing. The close of the contest was as thrilling as the competition for the top 3 spots by Ajay, Parimala and Namratha. Testers have shown that the top testing talent can come from any part of the world and a learning community for a passionate and skilled tester can make a big difference to a group of developers and entrepreneurs.
Following the contest, the tester meetup brought together Abhinav Lal CTO, Practo, Praveen & Avinasha founders of 99tests and the top testers Parimala, Namratha, Yogesh and Maitreya. It was really wonderful to know the stories of testers and our customer on how the community testing has enabled both of them to collaborate in building a better product.
